How Much Time Do You Spend Online Each Week?
Is it too much time, or a reasonable amount? And is it helping you to be productive?
Surprisingly, for us internet savvy generation, it is pretty easy to get bigoted with the medium. Given the sheer scale of the internet, there is so much to see, do and learn and yet most of us find ourselves thinking otherwise. In this blog, I will talk about how much time I spend online each week and how useless or productive I find it. Trust me, there is a lot more to the internet than we think.
I believe the internet at this time has exceeded the usual stage where you count how many hours you spent online. Yeah it’s difficult to do so because without waiting for you to go to your PC to be online or to check your mail, it reaches you, it sends you push notifications wherever you are and whenever something might be of your interest you choose to reply an email, a chat conversation over Skype, breaking news from online, and so forth.
So to me I’ll say I use internet 24 x 7 hours/week because I could be listening to music while doing research, or playing online, when that important email is received, or attending a course online, when a friend pops up a chat.
To be productive, you need to be able to turn off that Facebook and other destructive windows and remain focus on your target for the day or week.
Personally, the internet has made me more productive because I get the chance to learn new things. Learning is one of the most important productive things to do on the internet. Learning explores and unleashes your creativity. Creativity gives you the power of imagination. Imagination helps you to think exceptionally and this kind of thinking gives you the deep knowledge and finally, the execution of this knowledge makes you great.
Secondly, taking online courses on the Internet: No matter how skilled you are today, there will always be something you’re missing or some new skills which are important to your success in the near future. Educational technology is fast paced on the internet, new skills are expected to be learnt at the earliest by professionals and there are vast resources available online to do this. So, the most productive thing to do on the internet is to turn your weakness into a strength. Hereby completing a certificate/degree course from an online institute like Codecademy or Coursera will be the coolest decision to grow your business and career in a much easier way.
Another significant thing I do on the internet is to update my personal and professional life.Instead of just whiling away my time on the internet, I make an effort to organize my life by restructuring the look on my LinkedIn page and also connecting with people in my field of interest.
Again, I watch inspirational videos on the internet:Watching inspirational videos on the Internet is the most effective use of my time, especially in boring situations. The Internet has millions of inspirational videos which not only give me knowledge but also expand my worldview and thinking. Aiming to be a great entrepreneur, I watch inspiring videos on YouTube or Ted Talks. Spending just 10 to 20 minutes listening to great thinkers and industry pioneers increase and boost my productivity in work and life.
All these listed above and more is what I do on the internet 24 x 7 hours/week and it helps me to be more productive and updated.
How are you spending your time on the internet?
