MY DATA SCIENCE JOURNEY
I am Hephzibah Emereole, a 3rd-year Computer Science student at Ashesi University and a beneficiary of the one-year DataCamp scholarship, which commenced in April 2020. I can testify that I have gained much knowledge from learning about data manipulations in SQL in the last months, and the contents in the videos were easy to understand.
As I progressed, I realized that my high moments were at points when I finished a course and completed all the exercises in each of the chapters. I am passionate about data analysis and database manipulation, and I motivated myself to complete over five courses in the SQL track. Overall, the courses on DataCamp were detailed, educative, and informative, and I enjoyed learning from different experts who took the course. After I finished the course on SQL track, I took one of the skill assessments in SQL and scored over 80 out of 100 points. That encouraged me to do more with the knowledge I had gotten.
In September 2020, I signed up for the Google Africa Developer Scholarship Cloud track and participated in the competition until the second round. In the program, I applied the concepts I learned from the courses on DataCamp in manipulating cloud-based SQL databases. Despite my achievement so far, I also had a few low moments, balancing my time between attending to family needs, excelling at my schoolwork, and studying on DataCamp. My goal was to finish over 30 courses on DataCamp and explore more data analysis courses in programming languages like Python and Java to increase my knowledge. Still, I am happy with the knowledge I have gained.
In the last quarter of 2020, I took the opportunity to become an Ambassador for Developers in Vogue (DiV) in my community, and I aimed to organize workshops where I can share the knowledge gained in data analysis and database manipulation with members of my community and update them on the opportunities present at DiV so that they can develop themselves. I want to appreciate the sponsorship gotten from DiV and DataCamp Donates, which has been impactful in acquiring knowledge on Data Analysis in Data Science.
My next plan of action is to incorporate the knowledge gained at my internship roles and projects. I am grateful once again and will be committed to improving lives and organization with the knowledge I have acquired.
