The Tech Accelerator Program
Developers in Vogue is excited about its partnership with Chipper Cash for the Tech Accelerator Program, a 1-year intense training program for intermediate software developers who seek to upgrade their skills and broaden their opportunities in the industry.
Chipper Cash is a venture capital-backed financial technology company that builds software to enable free and instant peer-to-peer cross-border payments in Africa and Europe; as well as solutions for businesses and merchants to process online and in-store payments. With over 1 million users, they operate in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Uganda, UK and USA.
Our shared interest in building a better and easier society through tech, and having more women representatives to positively impact the Tech world fostered and developed this partnership. Efforts to bridge the digital gender gap are gradually gaining ground worldwide, and a lot more is needed to be done to achieve this, especially in Africa. The Program, targeted at African women especially in Ghana, seeks not only to empower women but set them up to innovate and solve societal issues through project-oriented training, and prepare them for tech roles in organizations.
On the 1st of November 2021, after going through a rigorous shortlisting process, 12 finalists began their journey with introductions, expectations and plans for the future. Participants will be taken through a full-time 9-month intensive training in software engineering with a project-based approach, followed by a 3-month apprenticeship in tech roles with Chipper Cash and some selected companies. At the end of the 1 year, participants are expected to gain an internship or full-time job with these companies to propel their tech careers.
We’re eight months into the program and it has been a fruitful, insightful and promising year so far, with tangible proofs of the wonderful works the women have undertaken.
